Drakensberg 2011

One of the most stunning views in South Africa: the Drakensberg mountains...

Even though I didn't make it to the peak because of my vertigo, it was still a memorable re-visit... also because of the worst sunburn in my life...

And there are some big birds too :)

Mauritius Xmas & New Year 2011/1012

The beach at Le Meridien...

One of many firsts... This time the first PiƱa Colada on a beach...

The soon to be diver ready for the first lessons...

The snake that got us lots of free drinks and meals. After that, Theresa was sort of a Goddess at the hotel...

What is left of the new scuba gear after losing a fin...

The most important place at night. The bar.

Pirate ships for tourists seem to be a favourite among the visitors...

Our catamaran...

Starting the trip with something called jungle juice...

Fruit bats sleeping in the trees...

The waterfalls. Pretty pathetic but hey...

Approaching Ile de Cerf...

Up to no good again...

Ile de Cerf at the other side. Not much bigger than most islands on the Maldives...

Port Louis trip, the capital...

Before the beer...

After the beer...

A Hindu temple on our way back...

Looking wasted but actually just tired from driving through hell. Mauritius is not recommended for driving around...

The beach bar, our favourite spot...

Theresa up to something again...but who can read women...

Our driver to the airport...

Beach bar view around sunset..

Training for the arm wrestling on New Year's Eve...

Cape Town October 2011

After one year, finally back to Cape Town for a few days...

That good old mountain ...

Our humble backpackers stay in Camps Bay. Our pool wasn't even heated...

My little one with her favourite pastime: sipping cocktails at Oyo...

Whale watching in Hermanus (two whales in the background, bigger ones in the water, though not visible...)

Wine tasting at its best: Rust En Vrede...

When I grow up, I want to live in Rust En Vrede's cellar...

St. Lucia

No, not the St. Lucia in the Caribbean, but the east coast of SA. What a night life! Bars don't close until 10pm! But wait until you get to Richards Bay. We drove around for an hour and didn't find civilisation apart from a shopping mall the size of a small European country...

The hippo river.

If that one isn't poisonous...

The hippos are waiting for their prey.

A hungry rhino...

At this point in time, I thought it would step on my car. The car hire company wouldn't have been amused, they are huge!

Beach time in the hippo lagoon...

Please walk here, but we're not responsible if you're eaten by a crocodile or a hippo. Thanks.
